Murder Arrest (Rumford) – A man from the Western Maine town of Peru is charged with murdering two people on New Year’s Day.  49-year old Mark Penley reported discovering the bodies inside a South Paris apartment that evening.  State police questioned him at the Rumford police station last night and took him to the Oxford County Jail. Fatal Fire   (Acton) – A 28-year old Acton man died when his apartment caught fire during the weekend.  The State Fire Marshal’s office reports to Star 97.7 that Edward Roberts’ body turned up in his apartment that passing motorists spotted ablaze late Saturday night.  Investigators have not yet determined how the fire started.  The medical examiners’ office will conduct … [Read more...] about Local News – December 31, 2018
