Child Struck
(Windsor) – A Knox County woman got a ticket for passing a stopped school bus and running into a student who was boarding the vehicle. State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said it happened during a snow storm in Windsor on Route 17. Troopers ticked 51-year old Eileen Bayer for passing the bus that was stopped and had its red lights on. Bayer struck 14-old Tennyson Lincoln of Somerville who was boarding the bus near his home Lincoln was treated and released.
Child Porn Conviction
(Ellsworth) – A 54-year old Gouldsboro man faces prison time after a jury in Hancock County convicted him of child porn possession. Jerome Humery will find out his sentence at a later date. The District Attorney’s office reports to Star 97.7 that jurors took 2-and-a-half hours to find Humery guilty. His attorney argued Humery took medication that rendered him incapable of knowing that loading child porn images onto his computer was wrong.
Sedgwick Fatal
(Sedgwick) – A crash in Sedgwick last evening left a 30-year old man from Stonington dead. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department reports Lance Gale was driving his pickup truck on Byard’s Point Road in Sedgwick when he got off to the side and slammed into trees. Gale was dead at the scene. Sheriff’s Deputies continue to investigate.
Milo Fatal
(Milo) – A 22-year old from Milo died when his car slammed into a truck contracted by the Postal Service. That happened yesterday morning on a slush covered road in Orneville. WABI-TV reports Connor Webb died in the crash. The truck driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Fiberight Update
(Hampden) – The company building a plant that will convert trash to bio-fuel says it should be ready for operations at the end of next March. Fiberight says it has brought in extra construction crews to finish construction on the $20-million dollar plant in Hampden. The facility was supposed to be in operation last April. Fiberight officials say a challenge to its DEP license and poor weather led to construction delays.
Fright at the Fort
(Prospect) It’s the final weekend of Fright at the Fort. The theme for 19th annual fear-provoking event is “King of Horror”, inspired by Maine author Stephen King. Preparation for the event began months ago. Friends of Fort Knox’s new executive director Dean Martin says it’s been a whirl wind since he began his new position on September 1st and he looks forward to some down-time. Fright at the Fort is recommended for ages 12 and up, but Martin says parental discretion is advised.

High School
- Calais and Washington Academy will meet for the State Class “C” volleyball crown Saturday for a 4th straight year. Both teams won their semi-finals in straight sets yesterday.
- Soccer quarter finals wrap up today, regional semi-finals start tomorrow.
