Stockton Springs Death
(Stockton Springs) – A couple staying in a Stockton Springs condominium faces murder charges after a 10-year old girl’s death. Ambulance workers responded to the condo Sunday and found Marissa Kennedy dead. The Medical Examiner’s office says the death was a homicide, and detectives questioned her 33-year old mother Sharon Carrillo and her 51-year old step father Julio Carrillo before charging them with murder yesterday. Two young children in the home are in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services. Authorities have not released the cause of death, and the suspects are likely to make a court appearance either today or tomorrow.

(Ellsworth) – The Downeast Family YMCA will take home the Ellsworth chamber of commerce top drawer award this spring. The award is the top honor for local businesses. The YMCA has seen explosive growth in its services over the past 20-years or so. Child care expansions have helped to foster new business growth in the city, and the “Y” has run a summer camp in Eastbrook and expanded into Blue Hill and Bucksport among other areas. Executive Director Peter Farragher called the award a great honor.
Welcome Back Signs
(Ellsworth) – Parents lined the roads leading into the two school campuses in Ellsworth yesterday, welcoming students back from vacation. They held signs that read things like teach, learn and love. Dottie Vachon organized the welcome back greetings from her Facebook page, and about a dozen parents joined her in the effort. The welcome comes in the wake of the Valentines Day shootings in Florida, and last week’s arrest of a 19-year old from Ellsworth after he posted a threat on an internet gaming site. Extra police were on hand in the schools yesterday. There were no incidents.
Orono Teen’s Death
(Orono) – An autopsy has concluded that a 19-year old girl who died earlier this month in Orono died from alcohol and cocaine ingestion. Alexi Adams turned up in a snow bank along Colburn Drive, not far from where she lived with an uncle. The Bangor Daily News reports the medical examiners’ office ruled that Adams died from acute intoxication from a combination of cocaine and grain alcohol. Hypothermia was also a factor in her death. Adams had moved to Orono from California in January.
Belfast Terrorizing
(Belfast) – Police carted a 57-year old Belfast woman off to jail after she posted You Tube videos of target practice where she shouted threats to city councilors and other Belfast city officials. Village Soup dot-com reports Laurie Allen is charged with terrorizing. She’s had a long running dispute with the city about a stream that runs through her back yard. That stream was moved by a subdivision developer decades ago. Allen was arrested last November on harassment charges, and several city councilors have protection orders against her.
