Ellsworth Fatal
(Ellsworth) – Traffic traveling between MDI and Ellsworth early this morning had to take a different route as a fatal accident shut down Route 3 between Jordan River Road in Trenton and Buttermilk Road in Ellsworth. The crash occurred near Mardens in Ellsworth at about 4-o’clock this morning, and firefighters had to cut the victim out of the wrecked vehicle. Firefighters and Maine DOT workers diverted traffic around the scene. Police have not yet released any details about the crash.
Toy Run Fatal
(Augusta) – The annual motorcycle toy run turned tragic yesterday when a pickup truck slammed into at least four bikes on Interstate 95 in Augusta yesterday, killing two bikers, injuring two other bikers and the two people in the truck. It happened between exits 112 and 113 at around Noon time yesterday. The bikers who perished were 58-year old Jamie Gross of Belmont and 25-year old Aaron White-Sevigny of Windsor. Police are still investigating what happened.
Murder Suspect
(Groton, MA) – A 22-year old jazz musician who grew up in Rockport and attended Camden Hills High School is suspected of killing 4-people in Massachusetts. Orion Krause is due in court today for Friday’s killings in Groton, Massachusetts. Krause graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio, a prestigious music conservatory.
Emera – Irma
(Bangor) – A group of linemen from Eastern Maine is headed to Florida to help with power restoration efforts following Hurricane Irma. Emera Maine spokeswoman Judy Long confirms to Star 97.7 that 12 line workers, a mechanic and a line supervisors have departed for Florida with 8-bucket trucks. Another line supervisor was already in Florida.
Missing Teen Found
(Skowhegan) – Game Wardens have found a 17-year old boy in Skowhegan. His family became worried when the teen who is autistic left home yesterday morning and did not return. They reported him missing at 4-o’clock in the afternoon. Warden Service spokesman John McDonald reports to State 97-7 that a warden found the teen about a quarter mile from his home about 2-hours later. He was unhurt and had been building a shelter near his home.
Drug Bust
(Newport) – Drug agents in Maine say they’d been working a Newburgh woman for months as she allegedly ferried heroin from out of state to Hancock and Penobscot Counties. They got her last week, arresting 30-year old Shailene Chapman in Newport after stopping her vehicle on Interstate 95. Drug sniffing dogs found about a half pound of heroin inside her luggage, estimating the street value at nearly $40-thousand dollars. Chapman is charged with aggravated drug trafficking.
Tree Stand Fall
(T4ND) – A bear hunter from Massachusetts is dead after falling from a tree stand in Hancock County. The Maine Warden Service reports to Star 97-7 that 62-year old Thomas Pelletier of Wareham, Massachusetts, apparently fell from his tree stand last week. A fellow hunter found Pelletier unresponsive on the ground and had to drive to Lincoln to alert authorities. Wardens advise hunters to follow manufacturer guidelines when using tree stands.
