Planners approved a permit in 2014 then rescinded permission in 2017.

(Lamoine) – When Lamoine voters go to the polls in June to validate a school budget, they’ll also cast their opinions on a couple of advisory questions. Selectmen last night opted to place non-binding questions on a referendum ballot on whether the town ought to help the state pay to fix up a two badly deteriorated state highways and whether the town should seek proposals to lease the closed landfill for a solar array. The questions will appear on the June 11th ballot.

Firefighters had to climb a long, steep set of stairs to reach the house on a hillside overlooking Hosmer Pond. Fire officials say a candle may be the source of the fire’s ignition.

Toy Run Crash Rebuttal
(Augusta) The Augusta Police Department says it’s going to follow “best practices” outlined by the National Transportation Safety Board in a report on a 2017 pile-up during the United Bikers of Maine Toy Run. The report said an unsafe maneuver by a motorcycle driver triggered the chain-reaction crash on Interstate 95 in Augusta. But it also said the police department and United Bikers failed to mitigate the risks of 3,000 motorcycles entering I-95 without “supplemental traffic control or state police oversight.” Two motorcycle riders were killed and seven people hurt in the pileup in September 2017.
