Ellsworth Fire-Oak St.
(Ellsworth) – A 4-unit apartment house on Oak Street in Ellsworth is pretty much a burned out shell following a major blaze yesterday afternoon. The 9-1-1 call to the building owned by Anthony Rumsey came in at about 2:15 in the afternoon. Fire was shooting from the basement and quickly spread up through the older building, at one point forcing firefighters to evacuate because of the danger. Fire Chief Richard Tupper tells Star 97.7 there’s a lot of damage. More than a dozen fire departments sent manpower and equipment to the scene, closing Oak Street for hours. At one point four ladder trucks were on scene. No one is injured and the Red Cross was assisting displaced tenants.
