
The National Weather Service (who are working despite the furlough) have updated snow totals expected for Sunday’s storm. We could get between 12-24 inches in the Downeast area.

* WHAT…Heavy Snow inland with snow and mixed precipitation possible along the coast. Total snow accumulations of 16 to 22 inches inland and 10 to 16 inches of snow followed by and ice accumulations of around three tenths of an inch possible along the coast. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE…Coastal Hancock Counties, Coastal DownEast Maine, East Central Maine, Eastern Maine, Interior DownEast Maine. Central Washington-Coastal Coastal Washington, Northern Washington Counties. Including the cities of Aurora, Dedham, Eastbrook, Orland, Calais, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Castine, Eastport, Machias, & Cherryfield,
* WHEN…From late Saturday night through Monday morning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility and cause localized hazardous travel. Power outages are possible. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
