(Bucksport, Maine) On December 5, 2018, at approximately 5:28 p.m. Trooper Dana Austin a member of
Troop J and the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement (PACE) Team stopped a motor vehicle on the MastHill Road in Bucksport.
While dealing with one occupant of the vehicle, the operator took off at a high rate of speed and a high-speed pursuit ensued. The pursuit lasted several miles and went through multiple towns. During the pursuit, the operator drove erratically and recklessly and almost struck Trooper Austin with his vehicle. The chase concluded on Main Street in Winterport.
As a result of the investigation, Levon Johnson (36) DOB 5-9-82, of Springfield Massachusetts was arrested for Eluding a police officer, Passing a roadblock, Aggravated Reckless Conduct with a dangerous weapon, Forgery, Criminal Speed, Operating without a license, Aggravated Driving to Endanger, Refusing to Submit to arrest, Disorderly Conduct. Several more charges are pending against JOHNSON.
Trooper Austin was assisted by Sergeant Alden Bustard, Corporal Christopher Smith, Trooper Jeremy Caron, Trooper Taylor Dube and his canine, The Maine Marine Patrol, Waldo County Sheriff’s Office and the Bucksport Police Department.
