Millinocket Incident
(Millinocket) – Police are expected to have more details about an incident in Millinocket overnight. Newscenter reports the local hospital went into lockdown after admitting two people with gunshot wounds. State and Local police responded to Massachusetts Avenue at about 8-O’clock last evening, but officers on scene would not say what was going on.
Camden Assault Allegations
(Camden) – A 42-year old Camden man is in jail, accused of assaulting family members for years. Village Soup dot-com reports police charged Senad Brcik with assault and domestic violence. His family says they’ve been his victims for several years, accusing Brcik of refusing to seek medical treatment for a 2-year old who eventually died. His wife says Brcik suffers from post traumatic stress disorder after fighting in the civil war in Bosnia in the 1990s.
ANP Free Days
(Bar Harbor) You can visit Acadia National Park for free during 4 specific days in 2018. The National Park Service says the public can enjoy all national parks without paying an entrance fee on certain days next year… those days include Martin Luther King Junior Day on January 15th, the first day of National Park Week on April 21st, National Public Lands Day on September 22nd, and Veteran’s Day on November 11th. In 2016, Acadia National Park had more than 3-point-3 million visits, resulting in $274-million in total visitor spending in the local region. That spending supported about 42-hundred jobs and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $333-million.
Donate Blood
(Maine) It’s the season of giving when some folks enjoy doing something nice for a complete stranger or helping out someone in need. American Red Cross spokeswoman Mary Brant asks that you consider giving the gift of life. Upcoming local blood drives include the YWCA-MDI next Wednesday the 27th, and at the Downeast Family YMCA in Ellsworth on Saturday the 30th.
Holiday Fraud
(Augusta) The holiday season is prime time for scammers to prey on vulnerable consumers, but you can avoid becoming a victim. A-A-R-P Maine spokeswoman Jane Margesson says fake charity scams are very common this time of the year and while most appear to be legitimate, she urges Mainers to be very cautious before handing over a donation and find out exactly where your money will go. Margesson says it’s also important to be careful about offers received by email. Some may take you to fake websites that steal your credit card information.
Arson Arrests
(Bingham) A man and woman from Solon are charged in connection with a van fire during the summer. Fire investigators say 30-year-old Jennifer Sandoval paid a man $300 to burn her vehicle so she could collect the insurance money. She received $22-hundred dollars in insurance proceeds for the July 24th incident in Bingham. Police arrested Sandoval last Friday then arrested 24-year-old Anthony Salisbury yesterday. They’re charged with arson, conspiracy to commit arson, and insurance fraud.
Drug Arrests
(Biddeford) Maine drug agents arrested two Biddeford women Tuesday, charging them with selling heroin and crack cocaine. Agents made several undercover purchases from the women’s apartment on Wentworth Street. Police searched the residence and seized 27 grams of crack cocaine, 15 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia and cash. Officers also arrested a man at the apartment on an outstanding Federal Arrest Warrant. Officer hauled off all 3 to the York County Jail and more arrests are likely.
Crash Death
(Wilmington DE) An Ellsworth man involved in a chain-reaction car accident in Wilmington, Delaware has died from his injuries. WABI-TV reports 91-year-old Eugene Paine was a passenger in car that rear-ended a vehicle, pushing that car into the vehicle in front of it on October 27th. Police cited Paine’s driver for careless driving. Paine was later hospitalized in Florida where he was found to have a head injury. He succumbed to his injuries and died on December 11th.
Ellsworth Arrests
(Ellsworth) Ellsworth police arrested an Eastbrook couple after a series of criminal events. Police responded to a local motel where one of the two patrons allegedly assaulted a taxi driver. A man fled, and police arrested 32-year-old Theresa Graham on an active drug trafficking warrant. While that was going on, police got a call to report a burglary. Officers searched Graham’s hotel room and found items connected to the burglary complaint. The EPD then got a 3rd call from a restaurant saying a man locked himself in the bathroom and left the water running. The restaurant was evacuated while police arrested 36-year-old Matthew Hardison. The duo faces multiple charges.
