(Ellsworth) It’s unusual to see a raccoon during the daytime and that’s usually a good sign it’s not healthy. Ellsworth police responded to Main Street on Thursday afternoon where a woman called in to report a raccoon acting strangely. Before police arrived another woman tried to pick up the animal and was bitten. The policeman, who’s also the city’s Animal Control Officer, euthanized the raccoon. A game warden picked up the animal and brought it to Augusta for testing.
