Grandma Goes to Jail
(Rockland) A 65-year-old grandmother from Rockland will spend 50 days in jail for giving alcohol to a minor resulting in two teens being treated for alcohol poisoning. Village Soup dot-com reports in February 2016 Brenda Shepard bought a half gallon of vodka for her underage grandson. He then gave it to the girls, ages 14 and 13. Rockland police were called by a witness who saw a man stuffing an unconscious girl into a car near the intersection of Main and North Main Streets. Police found the two girls passed out. They ended up at Maine Medical in Portland and have since recovered. The grandson was also charged. Shepard pleaded guilty as part of a deferred disposition in which felony charges would be dropped if she stayed out of trouble for a year.
