Lighthouse – Park
(Acadia National Park) – The Coast Guard wants to give away the iconic Bass Harbor Lighthouse to Acadia National Park. Park officials are contemplating acceptance, looking at the potential costs to repair and maintain the lighthouse which many had presumed was already part of the park. Advisory commission members warned that costs could become prohibitive. It’ll likely take several months to decide whether the park gets the light – if that’s turned down, the lighthouse could go up for auction. It’s on the national register of historic places.

Fleer Captured
(Franklin) A Franklin man who fled from a traffic stop earlier this month eluded police for over a week until his recent capture. Maine State Police pulled over 28-year-old George Pickard on Route 1A in Dedham on September 5th and he fled from his SUV into the woods. A police dog didn’t find him. Last week troopers got a tip that Pickard was working a roof job in Franklin. They went to the job site on Thursday and arrested him without incident. Pickard was wanted on outstanding warrants and now faces a charge for eluding.
