Jonesport – Valuation
(Augusta) – Maine’s Supreme Court has upheld the Town of Jonesport’s valuation on a building on Roque Island. The Roque Island Homestead Corporation had requested a valuation reduction on the building of more than 1-point-3 million dollars. That would have lowered the tax bill by about $20-thousand dollars. The high court agreed with the town’s hired appraiser that building costs are significantly higher on offshore islands, therefore the valuation is higher.
