Ellsworth Motorcycle Crash – Fatal
(Ellsworth) – Police in Ellsworth say a 62-year old man died from his injuries in Sunday evening’s motorcycle crash on Water Street. The biker, Dana Wright, clipped one utility pole and then slammed head on into another pole at the intersection of Franklin Street. The Life Flight helicopter flew Wright to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Police say speed was a factor, and they’re testing Wright’s blood to see if he’d been drinking. He did not wear a helmet.
Warren Fatal
(Warren) – Two are dead in Knox County after a 3-car crash on Route 1 in Warren. Chief Deputy Tim Carroll reports to Star 97.7 that 57-year old Kenneth Chipman the 3rd of Warren crossed the centerline and hit an SUV, and then spun and hit another SUV head on. Chipman, and 67-year old Cheryl Brimson of Rockport who drove the 2nd SUV, died instantly. Passengers in the two SUVs went to the hospital with injuries. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate.
Meth Lab Fire Victim
(Old Town) – Authorities have identified a man killed last week in a meth lab explosion in Old Town. State Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland tells Star 97.7 50-year old Jeffrey Miller’s body was found in a Brunswick Street home as drug agents investigated a meth lab. Four others were arrested in connection with that investigation. Miller was no stranger to the drug trade. He just got out of jail after police discovered he was making meth in Bangor. He was arrested in April 2016 where drug agents found a meth making operation inside a Deer Isle residence.
Produce Shortage
(Ellsworth) – A muted cheer went up among workers when the loudspeakers at the Hannaford Supermarket in Ellsworth announced that a shipment was arriving with meat and produce late Sunday. Some of the shelves were pretty bare as the chain experiences shortages following a fire at its South Portland warehouse last week. The fire destroyed one refrigerated tractor trailer unit and spread to another, and filled the warehouse with smoke. No workers were hurt, but the smoke ruined a lot of produce. The chain was scrambling to truck in more fresh products from a warehouse in New York.
Governor sues AG
(Augusta) – Governor Paul LePage has filed a lawsuit against Attorney General Janet Mills, claiming she has abused her power. Mill calls the suit frivolous. The Governor’s office tells Star 97.7 Mills refused to represent the administration before Maine’s Supreme Court. The case involved immigration policies the governor supported. Mills tells Star 97.7 that she advised the governor he could hire an attorney and cautioned him to make sure that whoever was hired was licensed to practice law. She said instead of doing so, the governor sued her .
New D-A
(Belfast) – There’s a new District Attorney for Maine’s mid-coast. The Pen Bay Pilot reports Governor Paul LePage has appointed Jonathan Lieberman to replace Geoffrey Rushlau who was appointed as a District Court judge. Lieberman was an assistant D-A in the territory that covers Sagadahoc, Knox, Lincoln and Waldo Counties.
Brownville PD Disbanded
(Brownville) – Voters in the Piscataquis County of Brownville have disbanded the local police department. The vote wasn’t very close – 104 to 34 last night. Citizens say it was very expensive to operate a police department for a town without very much crime. Brownville will rely on coverage from county sheriff’s deputies and the state police. Voters had defunded the police budget earlier this year.

Baltimore Orioles 5 Boston Red Sox 2 (Sox committed 4-errors and a base running mistake that killed an 8th inning rally). Tonight – Sox send Chris Sale against the Orioles.
Orioles center fielder Adam Jones claims Boston fans taunted him, used the “N” word and threw a bag of peanuts at him while he was playing. Fenway Park officials say they ejected the fan who threw the peanuts.
Game 2 of the NBA playoffs between Boston and Washington is tonight at TD Garden.
High School baseball and softball was rained out yesterday.
